Empowering Agriculture in Mamusha, Kosovo: A Sustainable Water Management Initiative*
In the Mamusha region of Prizren, we have successfully completed surface drip irrigation and infrastructure works on a 500-hectare plot to address water scarcity issues during hot periods. The region faced challenges with early maturation and yield losses due to water shortages.
Our irrigation system, integrated with reservoirs, now allows for precise water delivery during crucial irrigation periods, mitigating the impact of water scarcity. In the inaugural year, wheat cultivation was followed by sunflower cultivation in the second year, enhancing agricultural diversity in the area.
The implementation of automatic valve systems played a pivotal role, enabling precise and efficient irrigation management while optimizing water resource utilization.
This project aims to provide significant support to local farmers in transitioning to sustainable agricultural practices by ensuring the effective use of water resources.
